Membership in Kappa Alpha Psi

Membership  is a solemn commitment. To this Fraternity, the maker of the commitment becomes synonymous with the commitment itself. Membership in Kappa Alpha Psi®

Acceptable qualities of Kappa Alpha Psi® members

Kappa Alpha Psi® is not interested in the simple accumulation of members and chapters. Its emphasis, however, is in the quality and integrity of its membership. Membership quality manifests itself through an intangible element of brotherhood we call “that Good Old Kappa Spirit.”

Respect

Consideration for self, others, and the values and traditions of the Fraternity.

Engagement with issues affecting communities and society at large.

Active participation, stewardship of the legacy, and support of Fraternity programs and initiatives.

Willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions and to uphold Fraternity standards without excuse.

Careful guardianship of the Fraternity’s history, resources, symbols, and reputation.

Proper conduct, appearance, and communication that reflect positively on the Fraternity in all environments.

A commitment to developing future leaders through guidance, example, and positive influence.

Alignment with the Fraternity’s mission, objectives, and programs, working collectively toward common goals.

Faithful compliance with Fraternity policies, codes of conduct, and expectations of membership.

Dedication means putting those characteristics of maturity into a lifelong program of action to advance the goals and purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi®. We expect our members to be dedicated.

But do not let personal goals supersede those of the Fraternity. A person who feels he would do the Fraternity a favor by joining is not worthy of membership. No one who holds himself superior to the Brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Psi® is worthy of this distinction.
